Troy, Ala. – Troy men's basketball begins a four-game homestand when it welcomes Southern Miss to Trojan Arena on Thursday. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. and the game will be broadcast live on ESPN+.

Troy is coming off a physical two-game road trip over 72 hours as it dropped a tough 62-58 decision to St. Louis on Saturday then fell short at Pitt on Monday, 84-75. On Saturday, senior Jordon Varnado led the way with his second double double of the season in as many games in 22 points and 11 rebounds. Senior Alex Hicks added 16 points, six rebounds, an assist and a steal while fellow senior BJ Miller dropped 13 points with six assists, three rebounds and a steal.Â

Scouting Southern Miss
Southern Miss is coming off a 74-64 win over SMU in Dallas, Texas on Sunday, Nov. 11 to improve to 2-0 on the season. Senior Tyree Griffin led the way with 21 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field including a perfect 4-of-4 from behind the arc with seven assists, four rebounds and a steal. Freshman Gabe Watson added 14 points, two rebounds and an assist.Â

The Golden Eagles were picked to finish seventh in Conference-USA. Last season, Southern Miss finished ninth in conference but made it to the semifinals of the conference tournament. The Golden Eagles are led by fifth year head coach Doc Sadler who is in his 13th season of coaching overall.

Thursday marks the 15th meeting between the two teams, with Southern Miss holding a 14-1 advantage. In Troy, Ala., the Trojans trail 1-2 In the series. The last meeting was Dec. 10, 2017 in Hattiesburg, Miss., where Troy dropped an 89-71 decision.
