UTA Ends Troy’s Winning Streak

TROY, Ala. – Troy volleyball's four-game winning streak in conference play came to an end at the hands of UTA, who downed the Trojans in straight sets night at Trojan Arena.
The Trojans (10-12, 4-5) ran into a buzz saw in UTA (13-7, 7-3) and saw many of its recent statistical trends come to an end in the loss.
Cheyenne Hayes' string of 19 straight matches with double-digit kills and Sun Belt Setter of the Week Amara Anderson's seven-game, double-double streak were both snapped. Hayes still led the team with eight kills and Anderson posted 19 assists in the match.
Freshman libero Lacey Jeffcoat dug 13 balls to extend an impressive streak of her own, marking 13 straight matches in double digits in the digs category. On the season, she has eclipsed the 10-dig threshold in 19 matches this season.
UTA rattled off eight straight points to seal the opening set and rode that momentum the rest of the night. The Mavericks hit at .293 percent and tallied nine total team blocks to sweep their third match in a row – downing Coastal Carolina, Appalachian State and now Troy in succession.
