Troy Baseball Announces Fall Exhibitions

TROY, Ala. – Troy will host Alabama State and AUM in a pair of fall exhibitions at Riddle-Pace Field in November, head coach Mark Smartt announced Tuesday.
Troy will welcome Alabama State for a 12-inning game on Nov. 2 and AUM for a 16-inning game on Nov. 4. The Trojans defeated the Hornets in both meetings in 2017 but have not faced the Warhawks since the 1995 season.
The squad will take advantage of a new NCAA Division I rule that allows teams to play fall exhibition games without them counting against the 56-game spring schedule. The two games will mark the first opportunities for fans to watch the Trojans in live action since the team's journey to the NCAA Athens Regional this past June.
"I am confident that every Division I baseball coach in the country was pleased with the new NCAA rule that allows two fall games against outside competition," Mark Smartt commented. "Our program appreciates both Alabama State and AUM agreeing to play here in Troy. Our plan is to play 12 innings Friday and 16 innings Sunday as the rules do not restrict the length of games. Those arrangements will provide more opportunities for our players to grow and develop."
"We chose Homecoming weekend to add to the festivities on campus." Smartt added, "We hope some tailgaters will be able to enjoy free baseball at Riddle-Pace Field Friday night and Sunday afternoon while cheering the football team to a win Saturday against the Ragin' Cajuns."
