ATLANTA – Troy volleyball wrapped up another perfect weekend on the road in Sun Belt play with a four-set victory at Georgia State Saturday night.
Â
The Trojans (10-11, 4-4) extended their winning streak to four matches despite dropping the opening set to the Panthers (5-13, 2-6). After suffering a 20-25 loss in the opening frame, Troy stormed back with 25-19, 25-22 and 25-16 wins in secession to clinch the match. Troy's conference road winning streak is now the longest since the program joined the Sun Belt in 2005.
Â
Solid serving and defensive play once again led Troy on the court, spurred by three aces from Natalie Hummel and 18 digs from Lacey Jeffcoat, along with Savannah Moore's four total blocks.
Â
Amara Anderson and Cheyenne Hayes turned in double-doubles in the match – Anderson recorded 49 assists and Hayes posted 17 kills while both had 14 digs. It marked the seventh straight match with a double-double for Anderson and fifth straight for Hayes.
Â
Quotable – Troy Head Coach Josh Lauer
"Really proud of our team. Georgia State had a very good game plan and was the aggressor early. Our service and defensive game really stabilized us and gave our offense a chance to work back into the match. Logan Page was terrific down the stretch and Jenni Young made solid plays throughout the match. Amara (Anderson), Lacey (Jeffcoat) and Cheyenne (Hayes) continued their consistency for us, as well. This was another gritty team effort, but I'm really looking forward to being back in Trojan Arena!"
Â
Notable
•  Conference Offensive Player of the Week Cheyenne Hayes posted 17 kills Saturday for her 19th straight match with double-digit kills.
