LAFAYETTE, La. – Troy will face one of the stiffest tests of the conference season with a matchup against UL Lafayette-- the last undefeated team in the Sun Belt-- on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Cajundome.
Â
The opportunity to knock off the league leader in the Ragin' Cajuns (18-3, 8-0) will come just two days after the Trojans (9-12, 3-5) were unable to secure a victory on the road in ULM after a furious Warhawks rally handed Troy a 76-71 loss.
Â
In that game, Wesley Person broke the all-time scoring record of 1,875 held by Anthony Reed from 1986-1990 after Person scored a team-high 22 on Thursday. It became the second notable achievement he accomplished in a week after he broke the Sun Belt record of made 3-pointers of 324 against Coastal Carolina on Jan. 20.
Â
Person wasn't the only one who had a solid outing in the loss as Alex Hicks continued his dominant stretch in conference play with his fifth double-double in his past seven games. The forward had 15 points and 10 rebounds to maintain his status as the fourth-leading rebounder in the Sun Belt at 8.4 boards per game.
Â
UL Lafayette has been dominant in the Sun Belt with all eight victories being in double-digits including three 20-point wins. The Ragin' Cajuns are coming off a 76-57 win over South Alabama on Thursday after beating Texas State 80-55 in the last road game on Jan. 20.
