Troy Faces Rival South Alabama Saturday

Game Notes
TROY, Alabama – The Troy women's basketball team will play its 11th road game of the season on Saturday as the team ventures to Mobile to square off against rival South Alabama at 1 p.m. in the Mitchell Center.
The Trojans have been road warriors in 2017-18 playing just five of their 15 contests at home, the fewest in the Sun Belt Conference, and winning all five. The highway has been less forgiving, however, as Troy is just 2-8 away from the confines of Trojan Arena exacerbated by two losses in Sun Belt play last week at UT Arlington and Texas State. The Trojans (7-8, 2-2 Sun Belt) aim to reverse that trend on Saturday against South Alabama, an opponent that the team has defeated three consecutive times, including a 73-57 beat down in Mobile last season.
South Alabama (10-5, 3-1) enters the game off to its best start in league play since opening SBC action 4-0 in 2011-12 and it best overall start since going 11-2 out of the gate in 2008. The Jaguars have been successful behind the output of senior Chyna Ellis and redshirt freshman Savannah Jones, who are averaging 15.6 and 14.1 points per game, respectively. Ellis is also second in the conference averaging 8.9 rebounds per game and shooting 51.7 percent from the field while the team has four players in the top 15 of the league's 3-point field goal percentage category.
