Troy Looks To Upend South Alabama In Mobile On Saturday

MOBILE, Alabama. – Troy is back on the road looking to earn the first away Sun Belt win of the year with a matchup against rival South Alabama at 3:05 p.m. on Saturday in the Mitchell Center.
The Trojans (7-10, 1-3) narrowly missed out on a win at Texas State over the weekend in heartbreaking fashion after B.J. Miller went coast-to-coast with just four seconds left but missed the layup at the buzzer in the 57-56 loss.
That came just six days after Miller was the hero in Troy's 19-point comeback win over Georgia State in a game in which he made the final Top 10 Plays of Sportscenter in 2017. It marked the second-straight game against Georgia State in which Troy had a double-digit comeback win.
The first four games of conference play have seen the return of Jordon Varnado after he missed all of December with a foot injury. He has scored in double-digits in all four games in his return and has scored at least 10 in every game he has played this season.
South Alabama (9-8, 2-2) will need a win to stay ahead of Troy in the standings. The Jaguars opened the Sun Belt season with a clean sweep over Georgia State and Georgia Southern before falling by three at Texas State on Jan. 4 and then dropping a 91-67 decision at UT Arlington this past Saturday.
