Troy Women’s Golf Fourth After Day One at USA Invitational

MOBILE, Alabama – The Troy women's golf team fired a 7-over 295 in the opening round of the USA Invitational at the Magnolia Grove Crossings Golf Course on Saturday. The Trojans are in fourth place while Lindsey Harrison is tied for seventh after shooting an even 72.
The round was the first for Randy Keck as Troy's head coach and also featured the debut of Eva Fabricius-Bjerre and Sarah Harrison for the Trojans.
Lindsey Harrison made the turn at 2-under par with birdies on the 10th and 16th holes as Troy opened the round on No. 10. She moved to 1-under with a bogey on No. 2 and settled at even after a bogey on the par-4 ninth.
Sarah Harrison also had a pair of birdies before the turn as she posted red numbers on No. 11 and No. 16 and hit the back of the course at 1-over. A junior college transfer, Harrison played holes one through nine all at par to shoot a 1-over-73 on the day, good for a tie for 15th place.
Fabricius-Bjerre carded an opening round 74 with one birdie on the day to sit tied for 19th place. Bianca Lohbauer's card featured a pair of birdies as she shot a 4-over and is tied for 30th, while Bria Jansen finished her opening round with two birdies and a card of 6-over to sit in a tie for 40th place.
Competing as individuals, Antonia Poate is tied for 19th place after she dropped a pair of birdies on the front nine – the individuals started on No. 1 – and shot a 2-over 74 on the day, while Abby Parks had one birdie en route to an 8-over and a tie for 60th.
Host South Alabama and UAB fired matching rounds of 288 to sit at the top of the team leaderboard, while UAB's Maria Donado carded a 3-under 69 to grab the individual lead.
Sunday's second round is scheduled to get underway at 8:30 a.m.
