Troy Baseball Announces 2017 Alumni Weekend Information

TROY, Alabama – This year's Troy Baseball Alumni Weekend is set for October 27-29 in conjunction with Troy University's Homecoming.

The weekend will kick off with a special celebration of the Baseball Hall of Fame along with the Alumni game on Friday, October 27. The Hall of Fame celebration will begin at 7:00 at Riddle-Pace Field and the alumni game will follow at 8:00.

Homecoming is Saturday, October 28 as the Trojan football team hosts Georgia Southern at Veterans Memorial Stadium. The Troy baseball team will play an intra-squad game Saturday night and again on Sunday afternoon to conclude the weekend activities.

"We encourage all former players to return and help celebrate our storied history," Troy head coach Mark Smartt said. "Friday night will include a special tribute to honor our tradition of great players, coaches and supporters and conclude with the entertaining alumni game. Everyone can enjoy the Homecoming activities on Saturday and see our team play on the field Saturday night and Sunday. The alumni weekend is a significant event for our program every two years."

The 2017 celebration marks the 25th year of the Baseball Hall of Fame and the on-field ceremony will feature a tribute to the 46 players, four coaches and 15 supporters inducted since 1992. The ceremony will include honoring every All-American in program history. The competitive Alumni game will begin shortly after the ceremony. Alumni players must register online to participate.

The alumni game typically features past All-Americans, Hall of Famers and current professional players. Post-game awards include the oldest player in the game, the best fastball on the radar gun, the hardest/farthest ball hit and the Most Valuable Player.

Each former player is asked to register early (prior to October 20) and bring their family with them to enjoy all the weekend festivities planned on campus. The fee for the alumni weekend is $20 for a single person, $30 for a couple and $40 for a family. Fees cover alumni dues along with food and gifts from the baseball program. OCTOBER 20 IS THE DEADLINE FOR SUBMITTING THE ALUMNI GAME REQUEST TO GUARANTEE THE FOLLOWING GIFTS:

Number of guests that plan to eat on the deck Friday, October 27
Sizes for Alumni game shirts for you and your immediate family
Each player will receive a ticket pass for the Homecoming game on Saturday
Players can register anytime but food and gifts cannot be guaranteed after October 20
Fees should be mailed in advance; add $10 if registering on-site
