New Orleans, LOUISIANA – After winning in the postseason for the first time since the 2013 postseason, Troy will take on Georgia Southern in the quarterfinals on Friday at 7:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN3 and there will be a live radio call on TroyTrojans.com by Doug Amos and Barry McKnight.
The first round win against Appalachian State was highlighted by a dominant performance by Wesley Person. The junior guard led all scorers with 29 points fueled by 5-6 shooting on 3-pointers and a ferocious one-handed dunk in the first half.
The 20-point margin of victory was the largest win Troy (19-14) has had in postseason play since defeating Arkansas State 107-83 on March 3, 2006.
Despite the final score, the Trojans led by just three four minutes into the second half. Behind a big night from Person, Hollimon and Varnado, Troy went on a 28-8 run to close out the game.
Georgia Southern and Troy played twice this season in a home-and-home series in which both home squads won. The Trojans won the most recent outing 83-76 behind 19 points from Person.
Any Troy faithful in the New Orleans area can visit Fulton Alley three hours prior to the men's and women's games. Fans who attend can mingle with fellow Trojan fans and will be able to take a shuttle to the game one hour prior to tipoff.
