ARLINGTON, Texas – For the final time this season, Troy will be on the road in the regular season with a matchup against conference-leader UT Arlington on Monday at 7 p.m. The game will have a live radio call by Russ Schaffer and Barry McKnight on TroyTrojans.com.
Â
The Trojans (16-13, 8-7) are coming off a narrow 63-59 loss in San Marcos, Texas against Texas State on Saturday. Troy had the ball with the shot clock off down 61-59, but an errant 3-point attempt by Kevin Baker sealed the win for the home squad.
Â
As has been the case for all of February, Jordon Varnado continued his dominance by leading the team for the fifth-straight game with 24 points. He fell just shy of his sixth double-double by also registering a team-high nine rebounds.
Â
A win against the Mavericks would help remove some of the sting from the loss on Saturday. A win would have propelled Troy into the fifth spot in the conference after Coastal Carolina lost. The Trojans currently sit in seventh place with three games remaining before the conference tournament.
Â
UT Arlington (22-6, 12-3) lost to Troy 93-71 in the first matchup on Jan. 14 in Trojan Arena, but the Mavericks have gone 10-1 since then to sit in sole possession of first place in the league.
