SAN MARCOS, Texas – After four-straight wins, Troy is back on the road for the final time this season starting with a game against Texas State on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast on TXStateBobcats.com and will have a live radio call on TroyTrojans.com by Barry McKnight and Russ Schaffer.
Â
Troy (16-12, 8-6) won back-to-back road games against UL Lafayette and ULM two weeks ago before returning home to dispatch Coastal Carolina and Appalachian State. The four wins moved Troy to seventh place, tied with Texas State and just behind 9-6 Coastal Carolina.
Â
A win on Saturday would move Troy ahead of Texas State (15-11, 8-6) and would keep the Trojans alive for a chance to secure a top-four seed in the Sun Belt tournament, which would mean Troy would have a first-round bye in postseason play.
Â
It has been a strong couple of weeks for Jordon Varnado as the forward has led the Trojans in scoring in all four wins. Varnado is now averaging 16.1 points per game and 7.2 rebounds per game.
Â
Texas State became tied with Troy in the standings after losing two straight for only the second time this season and first time in conference play. The Bobcats narrowly fell 70-67 to Georgia Southern and followed that with a 67-51 loss to Georgia State.
