NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – With the non-conference slate coming to an end, Troy will face one of the stiffer competitions of winter play with a neutral site matchup against Arkansas on Saturday at 7 p.m. in the Verizon Center.
Â
It will be the second SEC team Troy (5-5) has faced this year after going up against then No. 8 Kentucky in Lexington on Nov. 20 in a game in which the Trojans ferociously rallied late but fell 70-62 in the end.
Â
Following that game, Troy earned a key road win over fellow conference champion East Tennessee State a day before Thanksgiving. That game marked the last appearance for Jordon Varnado as the forward has missed the past four games with a foot injury.
Â
The absence of Troy's leading rebounder has seen the Trojans split the past four. Troy picked up double-digit home wins over Delaware State and UIC before falling by double-digits in the past two games at home against UAB and away versus Southern Miss.
Â
Arkansas (7-2) started hot with a 4-0 run to open the season but has since gone 3-2 with a 87-68 loss to No. 9 North Carolina in Portland, Ore. before regrouping to earn a solid 95-79 win over No. 14 Minnesota at home in the Razorback's last outing.
