LEXINGTON, Kentucky – Troy is back under the bright lights looking for the program's first win over a ranked program with a matchup against No. 7 Kentucky on Monday at 7 p.m. (CT) on the SEC Network.
It will be the second time in five games against a ranked opponent after Troy faced No. 7 Duke in the first round of the NCAA Tournament to conclude last season. Monday's game will also be the second matchup this year against a conference champion after facing North Dakota in the season opener.
The Trojans are two narrow losses away from being 4-0 after falling 72-67 in overtime against Hawai'I and 83-80 against North Dakota after Geno Crandall hit three free throws with three seconds remaining in regulation.
Kentucky has also been involved in a share of close games after beating Vermont by four at home on Nov. 12 before falling to No. 4 Kansas by four in the Champions Classic.
After scoring a career-high 26 points on Thursday, Alex Hicks will look to continue that success against a Kentucky squad that has six players 6-foot-9 or taller. Fellow forward Javan Johnson also hopes to continue his momentum after notching his own career-high of 18 points on the same night.
