Troy Falls in Sun Belt Conference Quarterfinals

JONESBORO, Arkansas- A gutsy effort from the Trojans just wasn't enough as Troy fell in the quarterfinals in the Sun Belt Tournament 3-0 to host team Arkansas State on Friday night.

Sophomores Jenni Young and Savannah Moore continued have strong performances for the Trojans, each with eight kills on the night. Moore also led the squad with three blocks.

Troy (11-21, 4-12 SBC) took a 15-12 lead in the first set, winning six of seven points, but Arkansas State tied the set up at 17-17 and eventually won set one 25-22. Both teams struggled offensively, as the Trojans posted an attack percentage of -.029, while the Red Wolves hit a .139.

Both teams battled in the second set, as neither could gain a comfortable lead. Three straight points from the Trojans gave them a 23-21 lead, but the Red Wolves answered back with a 3-0 scoring run themselves. After a tough fight, Arkansas state broke away with a 28-26 win in set two to earn a 2-0 lead in the match.

The teams continued to trade points back and forth in the third set. Arkansas State took a few two-point leads, but the Trojans were able to answer back until the Red Wolves took four of five points to take their biggest lead of the night at 24-20. After a timeout and a challenged call, Troy was right back in the set, down 24-22. Arkansas State was able to get the final point of the night to end the run for the Trojans.

Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Year Carlisa May continued to be explosive for Arkansas State with 16 kills and 17.0 points on the night.

Logan Page had another great night following up her dynamic performance against South Alabama with a .583 hitting percentage against the Red Wolves.

- Troy finished the season 11-21 overall and 4-12 in the conference in head coach Josh Lauer's first season.
- Page posted a .300 attack percentage or higher in 16 matches this season.
- Page, Hayes, and Moore were the only players to start every match for the Trojans this year.
- Reina Terry finishes her Troy career ranked sixth all-time in the Troy record books with 2766 total assists.
- Troy finished first in the conference in service aces with 167 (1.33 aces/set). Hayes led the team with 41.
