Trojans Take Third Place In Florida State Invitational

TALLAHASSEE, Florida – The Troy men's tennis team finished off the first dual match of the season with a third place finish at the Florida State Invitational on Sunday.

After splitting the first two matches on Saturday, the Trojans were slotted into the third-place match against rival South Alabama. Troy won two of three doubles matches and split the singles series 3-3 to win 4-2.

In doubles play, Andy Lau and Pablo Moreno walked away with a 6-4 win while Andre Baldo and Hassan Ndayishimiye won their pairing 6-3.

Singles play saw strong play out of Moreno and Amer Bedwan. Moreno won his singles match over Pierre Noyon 6-1, 6-2 and the freshman Bedwan won 6-2, 6-1 over Lucas Gonzalez.

The other singles victory came from Lau, who won 6-3 in straight sets over Clement Marzol.
PLAYER OF THE MATCH
The senior Pablo Moreno led the way in securing the third place win. He went undefeated in doubles play on the weekend and 2-1 in singles play.

NOTEWORTHY
•  The win against South Alabama gives Troy a 1-1 start to conference play after yesterday's 4-0 loss to Georgia State on Saturday.

•  Troy only had two sets where they did not score a point on the weekend. Â
