Troy Volleyball Falls Short to Georgia State

ATLANTA, Georgia – The Troy volleyball team fell short in five sets to Georgia State, 3-2, at GSU Sports Arena on Friday night, despite Logan Page recording a career-high 12 kills.
Troy (6-12, 0-3 Sun Belt) seesawed through a five set match with the Panthers (5-9, 1-2 Sun Belt) as the Trojans fell in the first set 25-13. Troy battled back in the second set and won 25-23, despite falling behind as many as five points midway through the set.
Georgia State jumped to a 14-2 lead and ran away with the fourth set, 25-10. The fifth set had four ties and three lead changes, but a late run gave the Panthers a 15-11 win.
QUOTABLE
"We changed a lot this week in practice, and I'm really proud of the way our freshmen came in and gave us a spark." Sonny Kirkpatrick said. "Offensively we have to be much better, and we'll get to work tomorrow."
TURNING POINT
With the match tied at two sets apiece and Troy up 9-8 in the set, Georgia State went on a 5-0 run to take a 13-10 lead which lead to a 15-11 victory. The Trojans had three attack errors and one serve receive error in that time span.
PLAYER OF THE MATCH
Logan Page recorded a career-high 12 kills and led all players with that amount. She had two digs and two block assists on the night.
NOTEWORTHY
• Symone Shaw was second on the team with eight kills and contributed three digs.
• Savannah Moore and Logan Page combined for 18 kills, three blocks and 20 points.
• Reina Terry was two digs away from a double-double. She recorded 25 assists and picked up eight digs.
• Freshman Bethany Cullity recorded a team-high nine digs in the match.

The Trojans look to snap the losing streak against Georgia Southern on Saturday in Statesboro, Ga. First serve is set for 5:30 p.m. CT.
