Troy (14-12, 9-8) is coming off of a 90-83 win over UL Lafayette on Thursday night. Troy scored 19 points in the final 2:50 of the game to run away from the Cajuns, who came in giving up a Sun Belt-low 54.8 points per game. Troy scored 80 points for the 16th time this season and upped its season average to 82.9 per game, the sixth best mark in the NCAA. Troy is now averaging 91.6 points per game at Trojan Arena where it is 9-3 this season.
Troy outrebounded the Cajuns, 49-37, continuing its good work on the glass as of late. In its last four games, Troy is averaging 50.5 rebounds per game while allowing 40.5 per game. Kristen Emerson grabbed 13 rebounds to lead Troy and is averaging 10.4 in her last five games.
ArJae' Saunders led the Trojans with 21 points on Thursday, her fifth 20-point effort in the last six games. She has upped her scoring average from 6.4 per game on January 9 to 13.0 now, thanks to 17.0 per game in the last 13 games. She is now eighth in the Sun Belt in scoring.
Three other Trojans scored in double-figures, led by 18 from Claresa Banks in 18 minutes off the bench. Caitlyn Ramirez scored 15, including eight in Troy's stretch run. Ashley Beverly Kelley shot just 3-of-11 overall, but scored 12 points and had 10 assists with just one turnover.
Beverly Kelley still leads the Sun Belt in scoring in all games at 20.0 per game and in Sun Belt games with 20.9 per game. Saturday's game will be the 119th in her career, the most in Troy's 23 years of Division I basketball. The senior enters with 1,837 career points, the second most in Troy history and the 16th most in the Sun Belt's 34-year history.
ULM (10-16, 4-13) comes to Troy after a dominant, 67-54, win at South Alabama on Thursday. The win snapped the Warhawks six-game losing streak and South Alabama's four-game winning streak. The Warhawks entered the game alone in last place in the Sun Belt standings, but the win moved them within two games of the eighth and final spot in the tournament with three games still to play.
ULM led nearly the entire game, including by 20 early in the fourth quarter, and used a plus-14 advantage on the glass to take control. Chelsea Tieuel scored a career-high 25 points with five 3-pointers to keep the Warhawks alive in the hunt for a spot in the Sun Belt Championships.
ULM leads the all-time series, 14-5, against Troy, including a win in this season's first meeting, 77-73, in Monroe after Troy led by 11 points early in the fourth quarter.
Troy is just 2-5 against ULM under Chanda Rigby, but all five of those losses, and one of the wins, have been by single digits. The only exception was last season's game in Trojan Arena in which Troy dominated on its way to a 90-51 win.
Following Saturday's game, Troy will close the regular season with games at Texas State and UT Arlington on Thursday and next Saturday, respectively. Troy will then travel to the Sun Belt Championships, which began on Wednesday, March 9, in New Orleans.
