Troy Women Host Play 4Kay Game Against Georgia State

TROY, Alabama – The Troy women's basketball team will look for its second straight win on Saturday when Georgia State visits Trojan Arena for Troy's annual Play 4Kay game. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m.

All general admission tickets will be just $5 as Troy will be supporting breast cancer awareness. Both the Troy women's and men's teams are donating items for a silent auction where proceeds will be donated to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. Troy, who is 4-0 in Play 4Kay games under Chanda Rigby, will wear pink uniforms and the first 300 fans will receive a pink rally towel.

Troy (11-11, 6-7) is coming off of an 84-68 win over Georgia Southern on Thursday in which it tied a season-high with 12 3-pointers to snap a six-game losing streak. Troy led by as many as 22 points in the third quarter, but the Eagles cut that to a seven-point lead before Troy got clutch 3-pointers to squash the rally.

ArJae' Saunders hit 6-of-8 3-pointers and scored a career-high 26 points, that just one game after setting her career-high with 21 points at Arkansas State on Saturday. Saunders also added career-highs with eight rebounds and four assists.

Saunders upped her scoring average to 10.7 points per game, making her the third Trojan over 10.0 per game this season. Troy is now one of three Sun Belt teams with three players averaging double-digit scoring, joining Arkansas State and UL Lafayette.

Ashley Beverly Kelley added 24 points, including 13 in the fourth quarter to keep Georgia Southern's from getting any closer in their comeback attempt. Beverly Kelley made a season-high five 3-pointers and also added eight rebounds, five assists and three rebounds.

Beverly Kelley remains the Sun Belt's leading scorer in all games at 20.0 points per game and in Sun Belt games at 21.0 per game. She now has 1,755 career points, just one shy of cracking the Sun Belt's career top 25 scorers. Her 240 career steals are already 14th in Sun Belt history.

Troy scored 80 points for the 13th time this season, and the 50th time in Rigby's four seasons, in the win over Georgia Southern. The Trojans remain fifth in the NCAA in scoring at 82.4 points per game and are also fifth forcing 23.0 turnover per game.

Georgia State (9-13, 4-9) comes to Troy after struggling in an 83-45 loss at South Alabama on Thursday. The Panthers shot just 33 percent and had 26 turnovers while South Alabama shot 52 percent overall and 10-of-18 from 3-point range.

Prior to that game, Georgia State lost at home on Saturday to UT Arlington, 74-45. The Panthers have lost six of their last eight games and have struggled offensively in that stretch, averaging just 47.2 points per game in the six losses.
