LAS VEGAS, Nevada – Troy men's basketball is in Las Vegas, Nev. for the final two games of the Las Vegas Classic. Troy will take on Cornell Thursday at 4:30 p.m. and then either SEMO or Chicago State based on Thursday's results on Friday at 2 or 4:30.
Â
The first two games of each day are not broadcast. Troy may be featured on FS1 in the Friday slot depending on the outcomes of Thursday's games. Both games will have a live radio call. Barry McKnight will have the Thursday game and Mitchell Moss will be on for the Friday game.
Â
The first two games of the Las Vegas Classic have seen great potential out of the Trojans and narrow defeats. Troy led against No. 24 USC at halftime but eventually fell 82-77 despite being tied in the last minute.
Â
A similar scenario happened in Wyoming, though under much different circumstances. Seven minutes into the first half, there was a complete power outage in Laramie, Wyo. Play was suspended for nearly two hours before the teams eventually got back on the court.
Â
Troy went on a 20-8 run into the game and took the halftime lead but again was unable to best the home team and fell 72-66.
Â
The past six games have seen an offensive spark out of Jeremy Hollimon. Hollimon, who has come off the bench five times and started once, has now scored in double-digits for six consecutive contests. His points per game average is above single-digits for the first time this season at 10.1 per game.
Â
Cornell is 2-7 on the season with the Big Red only playing two games at home up to this point, one of which resulted in an 80-77 win over Northeastern. Cornell also gave USC a tough test as the Big Red fell 79-67 at USC.
Â
SEMO has also had some tough breaks so far. The Redhawks are 4-8 and will face Chicago State in the first game. SEMO has gone up against elite competition this year in losses against Illinois and No. 10 Indiana.
Â
It has been a season on the road for Chicago State as the Cougars have gone 3-9 with only two home games so far this year. Chicago State's wins have come against Illinois Tech, East-West and Western Illinois.
