TROY, Alabama – UAB's Kara Rawls made a layup off an inbound play with 23 seconds left to give Blazers a 78-77 advantage that led to an 81-77 victory over the Troy women's basketball team on Sunday at Trojan Arena.

The Trojans (6-3) led 77-76 with 2:27 remaining but missed two shots and turned the ball over twice before UAB (5-4) made the game-winning shot. Troy shot 37.5 percent for the game and made just one of its first 12 shots. Behind 17 points and 15 rebounds from senior Caitlyn Ramirez, her fifth career double-double, the Trojans opened a seven-point lead with 8:17 to play in the contest; UAB then outscored the home side 22-11 to close the game.

Five Blazers scored in double figure while Ramirez and Dajia Williams (13 points) were the only Trojans to reach double-digits.

UP NEXT
Troy travels to face off against SEC power Tennessee on Wednesday. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. and will be streamed on SECNetwork+ (WatchESPN).

STAT GEEK
UAB entered the contest averaging just 12.5 turnovers per game, but handed the ball over 27 times on Sunday. Troy scored 31 points off Blazer turnovers and is now forcing its opponents into 21.4 turnovers per game.

NOTEWORTHY
• There were 13 lead changes in the game.

• UAB shot 55 percent in the final three quarters after making 25 percent (3-12) if its shots in the first frame.

• Troy went on a 7-0 run to end the first quarter and take a 16-13 lead.

• Freshman Kayla Robinson made her first career start. She finished with seven points and four rebounds.
