Los Angeles, California – Troy men's basketball has returned to California for the second time this non-conference schedule, this time for a matchup against No. 24 USC in the Galen Center on Saturday at 9:30 p.m.
It will be the first time Troy has faced a ranked opponent since the Trojans played at No. 17 Mississippi State on Dec. 10, 2011. In that game, head coach Phil Cunningham and associate head coach Marcus Grant were both coaches with Mississippi State.
The game will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Network. Barry McKnight will have the call for the Trojans on the Troy Sports Radio Network.
The Trojans (6-4) are coming off the second-biggest win of the season after beating Point 114-52 in the Dothan Civic Center on Wednesday. Five different players scored in double-digits, led by Jordon Varnado with 19 points, and Troy made 42 field goals and grabbed 56 rebounds.
The 6-4 start is the best start in the Phil Cunningham era. Troy has now won four of the past five games, with the only defeat in that span being a six-point loss to USF on Dec. 1.
Varnado has continued to lead the way both offensively and defensively for the Trojans this season. He is first on the team in points with 15.7 per game, rebounds with 6.5 per game and is first in the Sun Belt with 16 blocks.
USC (9-0) is off to the program's best start since starting 16-0 in the 1971 season. Of the nine wins, six have been by double digits. Only one game has been a one-possession game, a 65-63 win on the road against Texas A&M.
