HONOLULU, Hawai'i – After a two-game stretch in Eastern Illinois and San Francisco, the Troy men's basketball team will finish its current road trip with a matchup at Hawai'i Friday night at midnight central time.
Â
The Trojans (2-3) are looking for the first road win on the season after dropping the first three games away from Trojan Arena. On the current trip, Troy dropped the second half of the home-and-home series against Eastern Illinois, 71-67, in a game decided in the final 15 seconds.
Â
That was followed by a 79-67 loss at San Francisco that put the Trojans under .500 for the first time on the year. Despite Wesley Person's season-high 24 points, Troy was weighed down by San Francisco shooting 42.9 percent from 3-point range.
Â
Both Jordon Varnado and Wesley Person have started the season much in the same way that they left off last season. Varnado leads the team in points at 14.4 per game and rebounds at 7.4 per game while Person comes in just behind at 13.8 points per game.
Â
Hawai'I is currently 3-2 on the season. The Rainbow Warriors started with a one-point loss to SIU Edwardsville, 69-68, then rallied for two straight wins over Texas State and FAU before falling to UNC, 83-68. In Hawai'i's last outing, the Rainbow Warriors defeated UH Hilo, 86-55.
