SAN FRANCISCO, California – The Troy men's basketball team will embark on the second leg of a three-game road trip with a game at San Francisco at 9 p.m. central time on Wednesday.
Â
On Monday, Troy finished off the home-and-home series with Eastern Illinois with a narrow 71-67 loss. The game was tied in the final minute before two Panther free throws put Eastern Illinois ahead with 15 seconds remaining.
Â
Kevin Baker attempted a potential game-winning 3-pointer with two seconds on the clock, but the shot was off mark, dropping Troy to 2-2 on the season.
Â
It marks the second consecutive season in which Troy has started 2-2 on the season. A win against the Dons would mark the first time the Trojans have gone 3-2 since starting 4-2 in the 2012-13 season.
Â
Troy has gotten production on all levels from Jordon Varnado this season. The sophomore is first on the team in points at 14.5 per game, rebounds at 8.0 per game and blocks with 10.
Â
San Francisco has not played in a week after starting the season 2-0 with a 82-80 win over UIC at home to start the season and a 75-63 road win over UC Santa Barbara.
