TROY, Alabama – The Troy men's basketball team will open the season Friday night with a home matchup against Toccoa Falls at 7 p.m.

It will be the first home opener since the 2014-15 season when Troy beat Brewton-Parker 85-71. Last season, Troy started off with a 82-77 win on the road against South Florida.

The Trojans got one game to get tuned up for the start of the regular season on Nov. 3 against AUM. Troy won the contest 84-65 with multiple newcomers having impact games.

DeVon Walker, who comes to Troy after four seasons playing at the University of Florida, led the team in minutes (30), free throws (six), rebounds (nine), assists (six), blocks (three) and was second in the team in points with 14.

Troy got a taste of another deep threat to go along with Wesley Person as Pensacola State College transfer Kevin Baker connected on 3-of-6 shooting from 3-point range.

NOTEWORTHY
• This will be the first time the two teams have met in Troy's history

• The Trojans had two players named to the preseason All-Sun Belt team. Person made the second team while Varnado was honored on the third team.

• The game will be the first time seven different players will appear in a regular season matchup for Troy.
