Troy Pulls Upset In Doubles, Wins Five Matches In Singles

Charlotte, N.C. – Every seeded player for the Trojans won at the UNCC Fall Invitational and Troy also got a doubles upset against third-seeded Duke on Friday.

The three No. 1 seeds for the Trojans, Amer Bedwan, Pablo Moreno and Fillip Mansson, all won with ease. Bedwan defeated Matthew Rose of Davidson, 6-3, 6-2, and Manson won over Johan Fors of Gardner-Webb, 6-1, 6-1. Moreno advanced 6-1, 6-3 over Merkel Aramberri of Bluefield.

Pablo Moreno and Andy Lau pulled off the upset in doubles play as the pairing defeated Furman and Dickerson of Duke, 7-6 (2).

NOTEWORTHY
•  Troy went 3-1 in doubles play on the day. Austin Racine and Shaaz Peerani won 6-1 over Huarachi and Whyte of Bluefield, 6-1. Hassan Ndayishimiye and Bedwan won 6-4 over Chaudhry and Gough of Davidson. Mansson and Baldo fell 6-3 to Asheville.

•  Mustapha Belcora picked up a 6-1, 6-2 victory as the two-seed in the third divison over Daniel Hammerstedt of UNCG.

•  All three of the Trojans losses came against seeded opponents. Peerani fell 6-1 in straight sets to No. 3 seed Kyle Barr of Wofford, Ndayishimiye retired 4-3 into the first set against No. 1 seed Nick Stachowiak of Duke and Lau fell 6-2 in straight sets to No. 3 seed Ryan Dickerson of Duke.
