Troy Volleyball Falls to Arkansas State in Three Sets

JONESBORO, Arkansas – The Troy volleyball team fell to Arkansas State in three sets (12-25, 20-25, 14-25) on Saturday night.

Troy (6-20, 0-9 Sun Belt) fell behind early in the first set, 18-6 and Arkansas State (17-7, 9-1 Sun Belt) closed the set with a 4-0 run en route to a 25-12 victory.

The second set had five ties and one lead change, but the Red Wolves went up 14-9 in the middle of the set. The Trojans fought back and cut the lead as low as four points, but Arkansas pulled away an won the second set 25-20.

With the third set tied at eight, Arkansas State finished off the set on a 17-6 run and went on to clinch the match with a 25-14 third set win.

TURNING POINT
Arkansas State jumped out to an 18-6 lead in the first set and went on to a 25-12 lead. In the first set, the Red Wolves recorded six service aces.

STAT OF THE MATCH
Troy had five total blocks compared to the Red Wolves three, but Arkansas State had nine service aces and Troy didn't record a service ace for the first time this season.

NOTEWORTHY
•  Symone Shaw led the team with eight kills and recorded a .222 hitting percentage.
• Logan Page recorded four total blocks in the match, which led the team.

Troy returns to Trojan Arena on Tuesday at 6 p.m., to face South Alabama, the first of the final three home matches of the season.
