Trojans Head to Kiawah for Palmetto Intercollegiate

TROY, Alabama – Coming off a fifth-place finish at the Johnie Imes Invitational, the Troy women's golf team travels to Kiawah Island, S.C., for the Palmetto Intercollegiate hosted by the College of Charleston Sunday through Tuesday.

The Trojans enter the tournament ranked 82nd nationally in the latest Golfstat rankings after solid finishes at two tournaments with strong fields. Troy will have a chance to improve on its ranking as the Palmetto Intercollegiate features No. 34 Augusta and No. 43 Chattanooga.

Led by the steady play of Fátima Fernández Cano, the Trojans are averaging an +8.33 score vs. par per round as a team this season, which is the second best mark in the Sun Belt Conference. Cano has a 71.67 stroke average through six rounds this year and is coming off a tie for second at the Johnie Imes Invitational.

Teams will play one round each day on the 5,972-yard Turtle Point Course. The Trojans will be paired with East Tennessee State and Kennesaw State for the opening round; the grouping will tee off beginning at 9:45 (CDT) on No. 1.

Head coach Bart Barnes will send out Gabi Oubre' (75.00), Becca Horner (76.00), Bianca Lohbauer (76.17) and Lindsey Harrison (77.83) along with Cano. Horner has fired one of Troy's three rounds under par (Cano has the other two), while Harrison carded a hole-in-one at the Johnie Imes Invitational.
