Troy Volleyball Drops Four Set Match to Little Rock

LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas – The Troy volleyball team fell to Little Rock in four sets (23-25, 25-19, 19-25, 13-25) in Jack Stephens Center on Friday night.

Troy (6-19, 0-8 Sun Belt) fell victim to a Little Rock (9-13, 5-4 Sun Belt) run that put the Trojans up 14-8 in the first set. Troy came back and tied it up at 17, but eventually fell 25-23. There were 13 ties and five lead changes in the first set.

Troy hit .250 as a team in the second set and recorded five service aces as a team en route to a 25-19 win. With the third set tied at 10, Little Rock went on a 7-2 run and ended the set on an 8-4 run, which led to a 25-19 Trojan victory.

Little Rock hit .357 in the third set and picked up 11 kills. The Trojans ran away with the set, 25-13, which led to a match victory.

TURNING POINT
Little Rock's 7-3 run in the third set and 8-2 run in the fourth helped them clinch the sets with each team having one set win.

STAT OF THE MATCH
Troy recorded 46 kills in the match, compared to Little Rock's 44; but Little Rock hit .149 as a team, while Troy hit .093.

NOTEWORTHY
•  Troy had six service aces in the match with five of them coming in the second set. Kiara Barrett and Avalon Nero each led the team with two service aces.

• Leah Causey led the way with 12 kills and Sara Landis chipped in with 11.

•  After setting a career-high last week, Bethany Cullity recorded a new career-high for digs with 24.

UP NEXT
Troy returns to the court on Saturday at 6 p.m., to face Arkansas State, the leader in the west division of the Sun Belt.
