Troy Volleyball Falls to Georgia Southern in Five Sets

TROY, Alabama – The Troy volleyball team fell to Georgia Southern in five sets (25-23, 25-23, 23-25, 23-25, 15-11) after taking the first two sets in Trojan Arena on Friday night.
Troy (6-17, 0-6 Sun Belt) won the first two sets thanks to a .265 hitting percentage in the first set and taking advantage of five Georgia Southern (11-9, 4-1 Sun Belt) errors in the second set.
After Troy went on a 6-2 run in the third set, Georgia Southern took a 14-10 lead after a run of its own. With the set tied at 23, the Eagles scored the next two points to take a 25-23 third set win. The last two points in the third set were just about identical as Troy fell in the final two points after a service error and a kill sealed the deal for the Eagles.
The fifth set saw four ties but no lead changes as Georgia Southern held on to a lead the whole way and clinched the set with a 15-11 fifth set win.
TURNING POINT
Georgia Southern capped off the fifth set with a 6-2 run to take a 15-11 victory. In the run there were three kills, one service ace and two Trojan errors.
STAT OF THE MATCH
Four different Trojans had double-digit kills on the night. Led by Logan Page with 13, Sara Landis followed with 12. Symone Shaw contributed with 11 and Leah Causey added 10.
