Troy Men Fall at ULM

MONROE, Louisiana – ULM went on an 11-2 run over the final 4:35 to play in the first half and never looked back, en route to an 85-74 win on Thursday night at Fant-Ewing Coliseum.

With 5:05 to play in the first half Troy (6-12, 1-6 Sun Belt) was up 28-27, but the Warhawks (7-11, 3-5 Sun Belt) went on a 24-6 run over the last five minutes of the first half, that carried over in the first three minutes of the second half that gave ULM a 51-34 lead with 16:37 in the second half.

Thanks to Jeremy Hollimon's career-high 26 points, the Trojans got the deficit to as low as nine points with 13:11 to go in the second half but the Warhawks went another run to extend their lead to 18 points with 9:38 to play.

Led by Hollimon's 26 points, the Trojans had three other players score in double figures. Jordon Varnado and Shawn Hopkins scored 11 points each, while John Walton the III contributed 10 before fouling out with nine minutes remaining in the game. Daniel Peace also dished out a career-high seven assists, while scoring eight points.

The Trojans shot 52 percent from the floor and 33 percent from long range. Troy got to the free throw line 25 times and made 18 (72 percent). Hollimon carried a heavy load at the charity stripe by making 12-of-13. Troy outscored the Warhawks 36-28 in the paint.

Majok Deng led all scorers with 33 points for ULM, followed by Justin Roberson who tacked on another 26 points shooting 11-of-14 from the floor. The Warhawks shot 59 percent from the floor and 43 percent from behind the arc.

The Trojans continue their road trip through Louisiana with a Saturday night game against UL Lafayette at the Cajundome at 6:30 p.m. The game can be seen live on ESPN3.
