TROY, Alabama – The Troy women's basketball team will go for its fifth straight win when Texas State visits Trojan Arena on Saturday for a battle between two of the Sun Belt's top shooting teams. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. as part of a doubleheader with the men's game to follow.
Â

Â
Troy (9-5, 4-1) is coming off of an 88-71 win over UT Arlington on Thursday in a game where the league's top offense prevailed over its top defense. UTA came in allowing just 53 points per game, but Troy eclipsed that mark during a 30-point third quarter that was the difference.
          Â
With the 88 points Troy has now scored 75 or more in six straight games, a first under Chanda Rigby and a first for the program since 1996-97. Troy is now fifth in the NCAA in scoring at 85.4 points per game and has surpassed the 80-point mark in nine games this season.
          Â
Ashley Beverly Kelley led the Trojans with 24 points, 12 rebounds and five assists against UTA. Along with the double-double, the Mid-Major All-American scored over 20 points for the fourth consecutive game. She also extended her lead as the Sun Belt's top scorer in all games at 20.2 per game and in Sun Belt games at 23.4 per contest.
          Â
Beverly Kelley now ranks fourth in Troy history with 1,599 career points. She is just seven points away from becoming Troy's all-time leading scorer in its Division I era (1993-present).
          Â
In addition to Beverly Kelley, three other Trojans scored in double figures against UTA, including a career-high 19 points from ArJae' Saunders, 11 from Amanda Mendoza and 10 from Caitlyn Ramirez. Troy shot 51 percent in the game, including 10-of-19 from long range.
          Â
3-point shooting could be a theme on Saturday as Troy leads the league with 8.2 treys per game while Texas State (8-6, 3-1) is right behind at 7.6 per game. The Bobcats only hit five 3-pointers at South Alabama on Thursday, but still managed to erase an 18-point, third-quarter deficit to win, 73-71. A road setback at Appalachian State last week is the only blemish on Texas State's Sun Belt record.
          Â
Troy is just 1-3 all-time against Texas State, including an 0-2 mark at Trojan Arena. The two split last season's games, with Troy's 75-59 win in San Marcos being the largest margin in an otherwise very close series.Â
Â
Both games in Trojan Arena have been decided by one possession as Texas State won 95-92 in the 2013-14 Sun Belt finale, then won 74-72 last season in the Sun Belt opener.
Â
Following Saturday's game, Troy returns to the road for a trip to Louisiana that begins on Thursday with a contest against ULM at Fant-Ewing Coliseum.
