Troy Baseball Announces Alumni Weekend Schedule

TROY, Alabama – The 2015 Troy Baseball Alumni Weekend is set for Oct. 16-18 in conjunction with Troy University's Homecoming. The Baseball Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Friday night will highlight the weekend's activities.

The Hall of Fame ceremony will take place at Riddle-Pace Field on Friday, Oct. 16, beginning at 7 p.m. and the Alumni Game will follow at 8 p.m. Saturday will feature a baseball tailgate party prior to the football game against Idaho and the Trojans will play their annual fall exhibition game against the Ontario Blue Jays on Sunday at noon.

All former Troy baseball players are requested to register online to participate in the weekend's activities. The events on Friday and Sunday are open to the public and are free of charge.

"We invite all former players back to help celebrate our storied past," head coach Mark Smartt said. "Friday will include the Hall of Fame ceremony to honor our tradition of great players, coaches and supporters along with the always entertaining Alumni Game. Everyone can enjoy the Homecoming football game on Saturday and our annual fall exhibition game with Ontario on Sunday. It will be a great weekend for all Troy fans."

The alumni game will feature past All-Americans, Troy Baseball Hall of Famer members and even some current professional players. Awards will be presented to the oldest player participating, the best fastball, the hardest hit ball and the most valuable player.

The Troy Baseball Hall of Fame Class of 2015 will feature recently retired head coach Bobby Pierce and supporter Ms. Betty Riddle.

Pierce coached Troy for 13 seasons and retired following the 2015 season. He is Troy's all-time wins leader with 450 in his Trojan career and his Troy teams won four conference titles. He led Troy to four NCAA Regional appearances and he coached 18 All-Americans in his 13-year tenure.

Riddle, wife of legendary Troy head coach Chase Riddle, was heavily involved with the program during the 12-year tenure of her husband in several roles and continues to support the program today. She participated in the on-field celebration following Pierce's 435^th career victory last season, as Pierce broke her husband's career wins mark at Troy.

Former players are asked to register early (prior to Sept. 30) and bring their family with them to enjoy all the weekend festivities planned on campus. The fee for the alumni weekend is $20 for a single person, $30 for a couple and $40 for a family. Fees cover alumni dues, along with food and gifts from the baseball program. Sizes for alumni game shirts for you and your immediate family
Each player will receive a ticket pass for the Homecoming football game on Saturday
Players can register anytime but food and gifts cannot be guaranteed after Oct. 2
Fees should be mailed in advance; add $10 if registering on-site

You can sign up for and play in the alumni game at any time – for food, t-shirts and a football ticket; you must submit your request no later than Friday, October 2. Please make your plans now and reach out to former teammates and encourage them to attend.
