Troy Hosts Texas State in Key Sun Belt Conference Series

TROY, Alabama – The Troy University baseball team returns home after a four-game road stretch to host Texas State in a three-game Sun Belt Conference series set to begin on Friday at 6 p.m. at Riddle-Pace Field. The series will continue Saturday at 1 p.m. and will conclude Sunday at noon.

The Trojans (22-20, 11-8 Sun Belt) are coming off a victory over Kennesaw State on Wednesday. The team used four home runs including three consecutive long balls from Matt Sanders, Reid Long and Logan Hill in the seventh inning. Long leads the club with seven home runs this season.
Trevin Hall continues to pace the team with a .375 average while Hill has a team-high 32 RBIs. Clay Holcomb enters the weekend tied for the Sun Belt Conference lead with 20 stolen bases.
Grant Bennett (7-2, 2.70) will take the mound on Friday looking to add to high league-high seven wins this season. Lucas Brown (4-1, 2.48) has pitched into the eighth inning in each of his last four starts. Brown is third in the Sun Belt in ERA. Left-hander Austin Crook (3-0, 5.60) will take the ball on Sunday making his fourth straight weekend start.
Texas State (18-21-1, 10-8) fell to Texas on Tuesday after dropping two-of-three to UL Lafayette over the weekend. Lucas Humpal, preseason Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Year, has struggled this season with a 4-4 record and a 5.51 ERA. Humpal will kick off the series on the mound for the Bobcats.
Tanner Hill is leading the team with a .282 batting average with Granger Studdard paces the club with 25 RBIs.
Texas State swept the Trojans in a three-game series in San Marcos, Texas last season. It was the first meeting between the schools. Troy and Texas State are tied for fifth in the conference standings.
