TROY, Alabama – The Troy University baseball team will look to continue its winning ways as it plays host to Alabama State Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Riddle-Pace Field.
Live video, audio and stats can be found on TroyTrojans.com. WTBF 94.7 FM will carry the radio broadcast. Follow @TroyTrojansBSB on Twitter for in-game updates.
The Trojans (15-14) enter Tuesday's contest winners of four straight and eight of their last 11 games. The team is coming off a series sweep of Alabama A&M in which head coach Bobby Pierce won his 435th game at the school, passing legendary coach Chase Riddle as the program's winningest coach.
At the plate, Logan Hill turned in a solid week. The right fielder batted 10-for-24 (.416) with a home run and five RBIs. Freshman Reid Long provided the squad with several key hits over the weekend, including a walk-off, solo home run in game one of Saturday's double hitter. Long was 3-for-3 in Friday's series opener 3-for-3 and fell a double shy of the cycle.
Clay Holcomb swiped two bags over the weekend and has 13 on the year. He continues to lead the Sun Belt Conference and stands 26th nationally.
LHP Ben Tidwell (0-0, 6.06) will get the start on the mound for Troy. Tidwell's last start came March 8, against UL Lafayette. The southpaw has pitched well aside from an outing against UALR. Prior to that appearance, Tidwell had allowed just three runs in 14 2/3 innings.
Alabama State (15-11) will counter with RHP Tyler Howe (0-0, 6.94). The Hornets took two of three games from Jackson State over the weekend and lead the Southwestern Conference Eastern Division standings.
Cesar Rivera paces Alabama State offensively with a .398 average and 10 doubles. As a team, the Hornets are batting .317 with 76 extra base hits in 26 games.
