Troy Softball Adds Game, Hosts UAB for Doubleheader

TROY, Alabama – The Troy softball team added a game on Tuesday and now hosts UAB for a doubleheader at the Troy Softball Complex with the first game set to begin at 4 p.m. and the second game slated for 6 p.m.

Hannah Day leads Troy (18-16) offensively with a team high .357 batting average and 31 RBIs. Day is slugging .592 and has tallied 35 hits on the season, both are tops on the team.

Kate Benton is batting .314 and has swiped 14 bases on 16 attempts this season. Benton also has a .385 on-base percentage.

Troy has 46 doubles, 30 home runs and is slugging .424 as a team. Khadija Neely has 10 of Troy's 46 doubles. Becca Hartley leads the Trojans with six home runs.

Jaycee Affeldt enters the doubleheader with a 3.05 ERA and 76 strikeouts in 94 innings of work. Opponents are hitting just .240 when facing Affeldt.

UAB (22-7) made an NCAA Regional appearance a season ago. The Blazers made two appearances in the top 25 polls, but fell in the most recent polls. However, UAB is still receiving votes. The Blazers are lead offensively by two big bats, Caitlin Attfield and SaraBeth Williamson. Attfield leads the team in batting average hitting .480 with two home runs and 20 RBIs. Williamson has hit seven of the Blazers 26 home runs this season and has 30 RBIs.

Troy won the last meeting against UAB in Birmingham, Ala., 3-2, in eight innings last season. The Trojans also lead the series against the Blazers, 14-9, and is 7-3 at home against them.
