3/26/2015 5:20:00 PM | Baseball
TROY, Alabama – The Troy University baseball team will take a break from Sun Belt Conference action to host Alabama A&M in a four-game series at Riddle-Pace Field.
Friday's opener is set for 6 p.m., Saturday's doubleheader will begin at 1 p.m. and Sunday's finale is set for a 1p.m. start. Live video, audio and stats for all three games can be found on TroyTrojans.com and WTBF 94.7 FM will carry the radio broadcast.
Troy (11-14) enters the weekend looking to overcome a rough midweek. The team fell to Jacksonville State on Tuesday and Florida A&M on Wednesday. Alabama A&M took both games of a doubleheader from Georgia State and a road contest from Tennessee Tech over the week.
Grant Bennett (4-1, 2.36) will likely get the start in Friday's opener for the Trojans. Bennett leads the Sun Belt with four wins and 40 strikeouts; he stands second in opposing batting average at .177 and is ninth with a 2.36 ERA. The remainder of Troy's rotation has yet to be determined. Lucas Brown has been solid for the Trojans this season and will likely see action on the mound over the weekend. Brown sports a 2-0 record and 1.45 ERA. He has allowed just two runs in his last 28 innings of work.
Trevin Hall paces the Trojan offence with a .371 batting average; he is tied for the team lead with three home runs and second on the squad with 15 RBIs. Logan Hill and Dave Hall top the club with 17 RBIs each.
Julio Nunez has been red-hot at the plate for the Bulldogs, leading the team with a .380 batting average, six home runs and 32 RBIs.
Troy is 8-0 all-time against Alabama A&M including a 7-0 mark at Riddle-Pace. The Trojans knocked off AAMU 8-6 at home in the only meeting between the teams last season.
