Troy Travels to No. 10 Florida State

TROY, Alabama – The Troy softball team travels to Tallahassee, Fla., to take on No. 10 Florida State at JoAnne Graf Field on Wednesday, with first pitch set for 5 p.m. CT.

Troy (16-12) is coming off a Sun Belt sweep against Appalachian State at the Troy Softball Complex. Hannah Day put up 12 RBIs in the series, including two separate games with five RBIs.

Day leads the Trojans offensively with a .390 batting average and a team-high 29 RBIs and two triples. Day has a .671 slugging percentage, which is also tops on the team.

Michelle Phelps has contributed offensively by batting .321 with a team-high five home runs. Phelps also has 25 RBIs and a .568 slugging percentage.

Troy leads the Sun Belt with 45 doubles, including a team-high 10 from Khadija Neely, which ranks second in the Sun Belt.

Jaycee Affeldt leads the Trojans pitching staff with an 8-4 record and 59 strikeouts in 70 innings of work. Affeldt has a 3.20 ERA and opponents are batting .244 when facing her.

No. 10 Florida State (22-6), who made it to the Women's College World Series a year ago, is coming off a series win over Notre Dame. Jessica Warren leads the Seminoles offensively with a .344 batting average, five home runs and 20 RBIs. The Seminoles have a strong pitching staff led by Lacey Waldrop, who has a 0.63 ERA and a 14-3 record. Waldrop has 130 strikeouts in 100.2 innings of work.

This is the first time Troy and Florida State will meet since 2013, when the Seminoles took two games from the Trojans in the Renegade Classic, hosted by Florida State.
