Troy Softball Signs Five for 2016 Class

TROY, Alabama – Troy softball head coach Beth Mullins announced the signing of five standout high school softball players to the Trojan softball team on Wednesday. The signing class consists of Abbey McMillan, Karli Woolington, Katie Webb, Logan Calhoun, and Brooke Echols.

"I think we have a really exciting and talented signing class this year," softball head coach Beth Mullin said. "All five of them are great students, talented athletes and quality young Ladies. I cannot wait to see what they accomplish in their 4 years at Troy University"

Abbey McMillian
McMillian a left handed pitcher will begin her senior season at Florien High School already in the record books in ERA (.85), strikeouts (675), wins (73) and no hitters (16). She was named LSWA Class B All-State Player of the year and 3-B All-District MVP for three consecutive seasons.

The Florien, La., native was named to the LSWA Class B All-State First Team, 3-B First Team All-District, Max Prep Second Team All-American and All-Sabine Parish MVP her sophomore and junior seasons and LHSAA Class B Outstanding Player her freshman and sophomore seasons.

As a junior she was named Shreveport Times All-Area First Team Pitcher, 3-B First Team All-District and West Central Louisiana Elite 21 MVP.

McMillian was also named Shreveport Times All-Area Pitcher of the Year, LHSAA Class B Outstanding Player, 3-B First Team All-District Pitcher, LHSAA Class B Outstanding Player and 3-B First Team All-District Pitcher her sophomore year.

Adding to her accolades, as a freshman she was named LSWA Class B First Team All-State Pitcher, West Central Louisiana Elite 21 MVP and All-Area MVP.

She plays for the Louisiana Bombers travel ball team.

Karli Woolington
Woolington, a first baseman, enters her senior season at Chiles High School coming off a season where the right-hander hit .430 with eight home runs and posted .505 on-base percentage. She also contributed with 37 hits, 16 singles, 12 doubles, one triple and 34 RBIs.

The Tallahassee, Fla., native was named First Team All-Big Bend and Varsity Offensive MVP her junior season and Varsity Rookie of the Year her sophomore year.

She plays for the Alabama Fury travel ball team.

Katie Webb
Webb, a left-handed utility player, enters her senior season at Central High School as a .461 career hitter with 68 RBIs, 22 doubles, and two home runs, while posting a .542 on-base percentage.

She was named selected as a ASWA 7A First Team, All-B, City Player of the Year, All-East Alabama First Team and was selected to play in the North/South All-Star Game.

The Phenix City, Ala., native plays for the Alabama Fury travel ball team.

Logan Calhoun
Calhoun, who plays shortstop and outfield, finished her senior season at West Laurens High School as Region Player of the Year. The left-handed hitter finished her season with a .418 batting average.

The Dexter, Ga., native was named First Team All-Region and Best Offensive Player her sophomore and junior seasons and Second Team All-Region her freshman season. As a junior, she was named Most Valuable Player and batted .467.

She plays for the Georgia Outlaws-Rodney travel ball team.

Brooke Echols
Echols, an outfielder, finished her senior season at Eagles Landing Christian Academy by winning the State Championship. The right-handed hitter hit a triple with the bases loaded to ensure their win in the game.

The Chargers have won three state championships during Echols' career and advanced to the Final Eight her freshman year.

She was named All-Region four consecutive seasons and All-State three consecutive seasons. As a junior she was named Defensive Player of the Year and was named Dugout Club State Player of the Year as a sophomore.

The McDonough, Ga., native plays on the Atlanta Vipers-Vallery travel ball team.

The Trojans open their 2016 season at the Troy Softball Comple against Eastern Michigan in February, as it hosts the Trojan Invite.
