TROY, Alabama – The Troy University baseball team planned to have its first full day of practice on Friday, but rain in the area altered practice just a bit. Avoiding the field, the team took swings and tossed bullpens inside the Lott Baseball Complex.
"We are certainly looking forward to this season; I really like our team," head coach Bobby Pierce said. "It's going to be an exciting group of players to watch. It has been a great group to be around and a group that has really worked hard to develop and get ready for the upcoming season."
Troy returns 16 lettermen including 2014 Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American and Sun Belt Freshman of the Year Marc Skinner as well as second team All-Sun Belt selection David Hall.
Pierce is entering his 13th and final season as Troy's head coach; he is 15 wins shy of passing Chase Riddle for most victories (434) at the school.
The Trojans open the 2015 baseball season at Riddle-Pace Field against Northwestern State on Feb. 13.
