Football Opens Home Slate Saturday with Duke

TROY, Ala. – Troy opens its six-game home schedule Saturday when Duke becomes the first Atlantic Coast Conference opponent to visit Veterans Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:04 p.m. and the game will be broadcast live on ESPN3.

Saturday will mark the debut of Troy's new high definition video board in the southeast corner of the stadium, state-of-the-art sound system and ribbon boards along both upper decks.

This weekend's matchup is the back end of a home-and-home contract between the two schools. Troy (0-1) took Duke (1-0) to the wire last season in Durham before the Blue Devils escaped with a 38-31 victory.

The Trojans are 22-1 in home openers under head coach Larry Blakeney and have posted a 98-19-1 record at home during Blakeney's 23 seasons leading the program. Duke will be the fourth team from a Power 5 conference to visit Veterans Memorial Stadium – Missouri, Oklahoma State, Mississippi State – and Troy is 2-1 in the previous three games with the lone loss a six-point setback to Mississippi State.

Troy enters Saturday's contest trying to regroup following a surprising loss at UAB in the season opener last week. The Trojans marched down the field on their opening drive for a touchdown, but the offense struggled to find its rhythm the rest of the game.

In his first game as Troy's starting quarterback, Brandon Silvers connected on 17-of-24 pass attempts for 162 yards. Dontreal Pruitt took advantage of his time as Troy's signal caller as he completed 4-of-6 attempts for 39 yards while rushing for 18 yards on four carries.

The Trojan defense forced a pair of turnovers as Jacquez Young forced a fumble and Montres Kitchens intercepted a pass. Kitchens led Troy with eight tackles in the game, while Billy Dobbs added six stops and a tackle for loss.

Duke dispatched of FCS opponent Elon 52-13 in its opening game after building a 28-6 halftime lead. The Blue Devils featured a balanced offensive attack with 275 rushing yards and 247 yards through the air; Anthony Boone completed 22-of-33 passes for 247 yards and four touchdowns.

Pregame festivities begin at 3:45 p.m. with Trojan Walk starting at Sartain Hall. The Troy Sports Radio Network pregame show hits the airwaves at 4 p.m. with the first hour of the broadcast coming live from Tailgate Terrace, which is located behind the outfield wall of Riddle-Pace Field.

Ticket booths and will call are set to open at 3 p.m. on Saturday and gates will open at 4:30 p.m. Fans without bags are encouraged to use the Express Lane located at Gate 1 (south end zone) for expedited entrance into Veterans Memorial Stadium.
