Men’s Hoops to Host In-State Rival South Alabama

TROY, Ala. – Troy men's basketball will host in-state for South Alabama on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. inside Trojan Arena. The game marks the first of two meetings between the squads this season.

Troy (7-14, 2-7 SBC) enters the game looking to snap a five-game skid, including a loss to Arkansas State last Saturday, 73-83. The Red Wolves got up on the Trojans early and maintained throughout. The short-handed Trojans battled back late, but the Red Wolves sealed the game from the free throw line.

Tevin Calhoun and Kevin Thomas each had 16 points on the night, pacing the Trojans. Antoine Myers picked up the first double-double of his career, finishing with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Hunter Williams tied a career-high with seven assists.

The Trojans are led by Williams at 11.8 points per game. Myers is right behind at 11.7 points per contest. Kevin Thomas is currently fourth in the Sun Belt in rebounding at 7.7 boards per game.

South Alabama (7-15, 1-8 SBC) has lost four straight and 10-of-11 overall. Last time out, the Jaguars fell at Sun Belt leader Georgia State, 65-85.

Augustine Rubit, the Sun Belt Conference Preseason Player of the Year and 2012-13 Player of the Year, leads the Jaguars at 16.4 points and 9.6 rebounds per game. Antoine Allen is also scoring in double-figures at 10.9 points per contest.

Troy is 6-15 all-time against South Alabama, including a pair of losses last season.
