TROY, Ala. – The Troy University baseball team fell to Central Michigan, 4-1, in the first of a four-game series on Friday at Riddle-Pace Field.

The Trojans (3-2) were able to pick up just two hits in the game, the fewest since CMU held Troy to two hits on Feb. 17, 2012. Troy's lone run came courtesy of a Matthew Howard solo home run that gave the Trojans a 1-0 lead in the third inning. Garrett Pitts doubled off the right field wall with two outs in the sixth for the team's other hit.

Central Michigan (1-4) scored three runs in the fourth off Troy starter Tanner Hicks. With two runners on and two outs, Tyler Huntey lined a ball just over Pitts' head at second base that would roll to the wall and allow both runners to score and Huntey to advance to third. Logan Regnier would add another run three pitches later with an RBI single.

Hicks (1-1, 2.57) went seven innings allowing four earned runs off seven hits; he struck out six and walked one.

The Trojans will look to rebound as they take on CMU in a doubleheader slated for a 1 p.m. start.
