Box Score
LAFAYETTE, La. – Troy men's hoops (9-16, 4-9 SBC) fell to UL-Lafayette (18-9, 9-5 SBC), 78-63, on Thursday night inside the CajunDome.
"Give them credit, they went small and we just didn't handle it very well," said head coach Phil Cunningham. "They turned up the pressure defensively and we made some critical mistakes."
The Trojans led by five with 7:53 to play in the half, but the Ragin' Cajuns closed out the half on an 18- 4 run to take a 31-22 lead into the break. UL-Lafayette expanded its lead to 15 points early in the second half, eventually going on to win by 15.
Troy cut the lead to 10 points several times, but could not get any closer, as the high powered Ragin' Cajun offense continued to take advantage of every opportunity.
Hunter Williams got out to a slow start but came out hot in the second half, hitting his first four shots, including three 3's.
Antoine Myers led the Trojans with 14 points on the night. Williams, Kevin Thomas and Kelton Ford each finished with 11.
As a team, Troy shot 21-of-54 (38.9 %) from the field and 7-of-24 (29.2 %) from beyond the arc. Rebounds were even at 35 apiece.
Troy returns to action on Saturday to take on South Alabama in Mobile. Tipoff is set for 7:05 p.m.
