Trojans Close Homestand Saturday with Central Arkansas

TROY, Alabama – The Troy men's basketball team hosts Central Arkansas on Saturday, December 6, at Trojan Arena. Tip off between the Trojans and Bears is slated for noon.

The Trojans (2-3) are coming off their second win of the season, a 72-51 triumph over Alcorn State on Tuesdat. Wesley Person paced the Trojans with 17 points, while Kevin Thomas tallied his second double-double this year, sixth of his career, with 14 points and 10 rebounds. John Walton III also accounted for double-figures as well, pouring in 15 points.

Troy currently leads the Sun Belt in its defense beyond the arc. In its first five games, the Trojans have held their opponents to 26.5 percent shooting from 3-point range, the 25th best mark in the nation.

In the national rankings, Thomas ranks 13th averaging 4.0 offensive rebounds per game. Person ranks 21st in the nation averaging 3.4 treys per game, which is also second in the Sun Belt. Person also ranks 30th in NCAA Division I play shooting 91.3 percent from the charity stripe, which is also third in the conference.

Central Arkansas (0-7) is under first-year head coach Russ Pennell and features a roster with one returnee, eight freshman and three junior college transfers. The Bears have played a mere two games, including a 67-49 loss to Arkansas State on Monday. Jordan Howard, who tallies 16.0 points per game, leads Central Arkansas. On the boards, Jake Zuilhof is averaging 5.1 rebounds per game.
