Trojans Head to Georgia State Invitational

Trojans Compete at Azalea City Classic

ATLANTA, Ga. – Troy cross country will make the short trip to Atlanta to participate in the Georgia State Invitational, taking place on Friday afternoon.

"We're coming off of a hard training week heading into Georgia State this weekend," said cross country coach Jeff Jenkins. "We had one of the best workouts I've seen during my time at Troy on Tuesday and the team is looking incredibly fit."

There will be 10 teams competing this weekend, with eight on the men's side and nine on the women's side. Auburn and Georgia Tech are currently ranked in the South Region for both the men and women, while Chattanooga is ranked ninth on the men's side. Future Sun Belt member Georgia Southern will also be competing.

"The meet this weekend will be on a little tougher course than what we faced in Mobile last weekend, but everyone will be on an even playing field on race day," Jenkins said. "I'll be looking at a lot of individual head-to-head match-ups between our runners and other individuals along with some inner-team competition for travel party positions. I'm looking for big races out of our top groups and several people have some statements to make. With such a young squad, we don't really have a full grasp on who plays what role on our roster, and they're going out on Friday trying to prove themselves. Our travel party for the Louisville meet will be determined based on the results from Georgia State, so the excitement is buzzing right now."

The Trojans are just six days removed from their last competition, the Azalea City Classic, but will look to make a statement against several quality squads.
