TROY, Ala. – The Troy softball team wraps up regular season play and hosts No. 18 South Alabama on Saturday at 1 p.m. for a doubleheader to complete the series between the two teams.
Live stats will be provided on TroyTrojans.com, while fans can watch the doubleheader on Troy Trojans All-Access. For live in-game updates from the softball diamond, follow @TroySBall on Twitter.
In their previous meeting this season on April 24, South Alabama's Farish Beard no-hit the Trojans in a Wednesday night contest at Jaguar Field. The Jaguars picked up 11 hits against Troy and took the first game of the series 9-0 in Mobile.
Saturday also marks Senior Day as Troy (20-30, 7-14 Sun Belt) will honor Bailey Blake, Michaela Hamilton, Caitlin Ortiz and Hannah Renn during pre-game ceremonies with the four playing their final regular season game at the Troy Softball Complex.
South Alabama (41-7, 17-3 Sun Belt) enters this weekend's doubleheader riding a 12-game streak; the Jaguars suffered their last lost to Western Kentucky, who enters the weekend with the lead in the conference standings, on March 30.
The Trojans look to snap a season-long seven-game losing streak, as well as a five-game losing skid to the Jaguars. All-time, Troy is 7-12 against South Alabama, but the Trojans have won six of seven meetings versus the Jaguars at the Troy Softball Complex.
Caitlin Ortiz enters the weekend hitting at a team-best .352 clip and leads the Trojans with 13 doubles and 23 walks. The senior has reached base in 26 consecutive games, the longest streak by a Trojan this season, and her .500 on-base percentage is on pace to break the Troy single-season mark.
In Sun Belt play, Troy's Bailey Blake leads the team with a .362 average at the plate, while Kacie McAllister enters play batting at a .350 mark against conference opponents. McAllister has driven in 16 of her 25 RBIs against conference opponents this season.
Troy will host the Sun Belt Conference Tournament starting on Wednesday, May 8 with the tournament concluding on Saturday, May 11. This marks the second time the Trojans have hosted the tournament; Troy previously served as host in 2007. Admission is $10 for a single day ticket or $30 for a tournament pass, which includes a ticket to every game at the Sun Belt Conference Tournament.
