AUBURN, Ala. – The Troy University track and field team heads to Auburn University for the second time in two weeks for the War Eagle Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
“Now is the time we expect the improvements to show up,” said head coach Jill Lancaster. “We look to field a full team at Auburn this weekend and expect to see quality results. It is very exciting and promising.”
Lizzie Clough will be competing in her second meet of the season in the javelin. In her first meet, also at Auburn, Clough threw 43.54 meters, putting her in 41st in the region.
Neko Freeman also returns to the track after taking last weekend off. He will be competing in the 100-meter dash and will be looking to improve his standing, as he currently sits in 22nd in the region with a season-best time of 10.40 seconds, set at Auburn two weeks ago.
“We are delighted with the progress made each week by this program,” Lancaster said. “Our sport is one of patience. You have to keep your training going while competing at a high level. Now that the training is moving in to a championship cycle, the athletes are really starting to freshen up and feel good.”
Check back on Friday and Saturday night for results and recaps from all the action.
