MURFRESSBORO, Tenn. – With a runner-up finish at the Renegade Classic and a road win over a Top-25 opponent in its rearview mirror, the Troy softball team turns its attention to Sun Belt Conference play as the Trojans travel to Middle Tennessee for a three-game series starting on Tuesday.
Troy and Middle Tennessee will open up the series with a doubleheader starting at noon, while both teams will wrap up the three-game set with single game on Wednesday. The Trojans swept the Blue Raiders in last season's series at the Troy Softball Complex as Troy holds a 30-18 all-time record against Middle Tennessee.
Troy (9-9) picked up three come-from-behind wins, last weekend, at the Renegade Classic in Tallahassee, Fla., as the Trojans defeated No. 25 Florida State 6-3 on Friday night and earned their first road win over a Top-25 team since 2007 at Louisiana-Lafayette. On Saturday, Troy swept Southern Miss by rallying in both games to take down the Golden Eagles 6-4 and 11-7.
Middle Tennessee (0-13) lost all three games at the weather-shortened War Eagle Classic in Auburn over the weekend. Blue Raiders catcher Laura Dukes leads Middle Tennessee with a .346 batting average and has hit four home runs in 2013.
Troy catcher Hannah Renn leads the Trojans with five home runs and 18 RBIs, while first baseman Caitlin Ortiz's .400 batting average and .551 on-base percentage leads the club. Freshman pitcher Rachel Rigney earned two of Troy's three wins last weekend, picking up both victories in relief.

After the series wraps up at Middle Tennessee, Troy continues its 13-day road trip at the Jeannine McHaney Memorial Classic in Lubbock, Texas starting on Saturday with two games against UMKC and IPFW.
