Trojans Head to Shamrock Invitational

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Troy University men's and women's track and field teams head to Myrtle Beach, S.C., for the Shamrock Spring Break Invitational, beginning on Thursday, March 14, and concluding on Saturday, March 16, at Doug Shaw Stadium.

The Trojans will bring 21 men and 19 women to the competition, hosted by Coastal Carolina University. Thursday will kick off the Invitational, with mostly multi-events beginning. The men's hammer throw and the 10,000 meter run will also take place on the opening day.

Adria Hill will look to prove herself in the heptathlon, with the first four events beginning on the first day. Her 100-meter hurdles time of 16.02 seconds last week at the Jaguar Opener was good enough for fourth in the event. Douglas Dyer and Samuel Johnson will both be competing in the decathlon, starting on Thursday.

Day two wraps up the multi-events. Several other events will also begin on day two, including the preliminaries for the 100-meter dash and the 100/110-meter hurdles. Day three beings at 9 a.m. on Saturday and will wrap up all competition.

Thaddeus Curtis is competing in several events, including the 110-meter and 400-meter hurdles. Last week, Curtis won both the 110- meter and 300-meter hurdles at the Jaguar Opener at South Alabama. Larry Henry, who won the high jump last week, will look to improve upon his season-best leap of 1.99 meters, while Mackenzie Howell will attempt to win the javelin for the second meet in a row.

Julia Ostendorf competed in just one event at the Jaguar Opener, but made her mark, winning the 1-mile run in 5:29.69. She will compete in the 5000-meter (Friday) and the 1500-meter (Saturday) runs this week. Jasmine Patton will be competing in the 4x100-meter relay, as well as the 100-meter hurdles, an event she won last week at the Jaguar Opener.
